The history of Friskies
1934
Friskies is born
The Carnation Company launched the Friskies brand in the western US. Beginning as dry dog food, the brand expanded to wet dog food in 1948.
1950
Friskies for cats
Friskies expanded into dry cat through the "Little Friskies" offering for cats, puppies, and small dogs - followed by wet cat food in 1955.
1969
Friskies goes global
Carnation acquired several European pet food companies, expanding the Friskies global footprint.
1985
Friskies joins Nestlé
Nestlé acquired the Carnation Corporation, including Friskies pet food.
2001
PURINA Friskies
Nestlé acquired Ralston PURINA, which led to all Nestlé owned pet food brands being rolled under the management of PURINA, including Friskies.
2008
Friskies Party Mix
Friskies Party Mix debuts in the U.S. market and quickly becomes a top seller for the brand.
Today
It's all Gravy!
Friskies added Lil Gravies to the line of complements – a first ever all gravy complement. A year later, the brand would continue to innovate in cat food complements with new releases Glaz'd & Infuz'd and Lil' Shakes.
